From the recording After Hours
The family never owned a key to the house. We left on vacations and the neighbors kept an eye on things. Chicago used to be a 24 hour town and the people lived together in peace and harmony and I miss it.
Lyrics
After hours when the clock is asleep,
And the memories just won't let me be,
I hope I can keep going on.
After hours in the silence of night,
After hours before it gets light,
How can I be so right if she's gone ?
There ain't no place to go, no one to see,
No one to love, no love for me,
Nothing to do but wonder why she set me free.
After hours it's so quiet alone.
Only me and my dial tone,
And I'll still be alone after dawn.
